Everyone Kept Asking When the Baby Would Come<!
“I used to dread family gatherings.
Not because I didn’t love my family, but because I knew someone would eventually ask the question.
“So, when are you giving us a baby?”
I would smile.
Sometimes I laughed it off.
Sometimes I changed the subject.
But deep down, those questions hurt.
My husband and I had been trying to conceive, and every month I hoped this would finally be our month.
But my cycles were irregular, and I was later diagnosed with PMOS.
I remember feeling so many emotions at once. Fear. Frustration. Guilt.
There were days I wondered if my body was the reason we were still waiting.
I started searching for answers instead of blaming myself.
I learned more about PMOS, my cycle and the importance of getting the right medical support. I also learned to be kinder to myself.
The hardest part wasn’t always the waiting.
Sometimes, it was pretending that the waiting didn’t hurt.
Today, I’m still on my journey, but something has changed.
I no longer allow every question about motherhood to determine how I feel about myself.
My journey is mine.
And while I don’t know exactly when my testimony will come, I have learned that waiting does not mean giving up.
I am still hopeful.
I am still learning.
And most importantly, I am no longer blaming myself for something I didn’t cause.”
Fictional testimonial-style story created for PMOS awareness and education. Individual experiences and fertility journeys vary.
